Accompaniment to the Leonas en Manada A.C., Metro carriage sellers in CDMX, to achieve formal recognition of their rights as workers. Our accompaniment focuses on legal defense and capacity strengthening of the collective (trades, community organization, personal and collective finances, personal and community therapies).
It is a specialized technical assistance program that combines immediate support with long-term impact. Among the actions we carry out are:
Legal Defense:We accompany the women vendors with legal defense against arbitrary detentions. Likewise, we use strategic litigation to advance the legal recognition of their activity as dignified work.
Community Organization and Comprehensive Care:We support grassroots community organization so that street vendors can collectively defend their rights and improve their working conditions against institutional and social pressures. We facilitate training workshops (crafts, personal finance) and essential care (community and individual therapies).
Political Articulation:We build bridges with government authorities so that their work is formally recognized in the city's public policies.
The vagoneras are a historically excluded sector and constantly criminalized for exercising their right to work in public spaces. Without formal recognition, they operate in a state of vulnerability and insecurity.
We seek for our accompaniment to facilitate the dignification of their work and their recognition as women who are subjects of rights.
The collective has managed to establish itself as a Civil Association, create alliances with other organizations and collectives, obtain funding, and progress in dialogue tables with authorities.
To date, we continue to fight for the work of the vagoneras to be recognized throughout society and by the authorities, for which we organize public events, theater plays, and other awareness actions in order to change the social narrative about their work.
